Be wary of extra charges they put on at the counter. My total bill came to $100 more than what I had originally reserved for. They put in an extra $30/day loss/damage waiver that I did not agree to and didn't notice until later. When I called they said they couldn't take it all off at that point. Very underhanded.
Total scam! Do not use! Charged over double the price when I went to pick up the vehicle. Since it was after 6:00 on a Friday, I could not get ahold of the customer service department because they were closed until Monday. Terrible experience.
Great Service Given the Situation. I had reserved a Mini Van many months in advance. However, our trip occurred shortly after Hurricane Mathew hit Florida. So, I confirmed my reservation before we left just to make sure all was good. When we arrived, there were no cars. Not just at thrifty but at every car rental place. The reasoning was that cars were not being returned on time due to the Hurricane situation. This was highly frustrating to say the least. We were absolutely stuck as it was a Saturday night and no other car rental places in the city were open. Additionally, it didn't sound like any cars would be returned anytime soon. Initially, Thrifty turned me down as they didn't have any cars. I was told I could get on a waiting list, but it might be several days before a car was available. That wasn't going to work, so I checked and double checked every other rental place. Well, of course no one had any cars. So, eventually I went back to Thrifty in an attempt to at least get on the waiting list. This time around, I was greeted by Candice. I tried to be understanding and cooperative given my frustration and expressed interest getting on the waiting list. Well, Candice stepped up to the plate. She volunteered to go verify the actual car situation in the parking garage in an effort to see what cars had been returned since my previous attempt an hour earlier. Luckily she found some cars that had been returned and saved one for me. It was not what we reserved but it was the biggest she had. We were grateful to have it so we wouldn't be stuck. She continued, by saying that she would also be working the next day and offered to save a Mini Van for us if one was returned. She did just that and we were able to get the Mini Van we needed the next afternoon.
Really wish there was an option for zero stars! Made reservation online to pick up vehicle in Miami, FL for 7pm. I showed up after 8pm due to late train. There were no cars in my category available. Didn't receive my vehicle until 10:47pm with no apologies. I only had rental one way for one day to Jacksonville, FL. There was no attendant available at 8pm... had to leave car and walk to airport to return keys. No agent available at desk! Asked agent at Dollar desk to check me out... being that it's the same company. She responded with no just put the key in the box you'll get an emailed receipt. I asked what about the mileage or gas? She said they'll check everything once back on duty. The next day i checked email to find that they charged me an additional day! Called customer service you get no help at all!! Said I would have to contact that location. Called the airport location to get no help at all! I had to drive to the airport to speak to a supervisor to get things straight! Never again would I rent from this company!!!
Reserved a compact. When I arrived the clerk tried very hard to talk me into a larger car. When I insisted that all I needed was a compact she admitted they didn't have any. Had to wait 20 minutes until they could get one there. Not the worst experience but not the best.
