I went up to Uncle Gene's Sunday 11/19/17. I ordered FRIED chicken wings. Apparently they been messing up everybody orders because everyone who came in to get their food was extremely upset. I figure nothing could be wrong with just FRIED chicken wings! These people gave me HOT buffalo wings. Did not offer a discount or nothing! I will not be returning to this place because obviously they dont care for their customers. I even called the place 13 times to order my food, line busy! The lady told me I was a liar cause the phone haven't rung. Now I see why you cant support black owned business! THEY ARE PATHETIC!
I have been to Uncle Gene's twice in a week. My family enjoys the food. I enjoy it. Real southern cuisine. I have never had seafood with a gravy like a brown gravy. Man, hottest thang smoking! Shrimp and grits! I have yet to have a thumbs down. Friendly and family driven. Definitely found a new home away from home.
I called my order in and it was ready almost on time. The food portion was good but the meatloaf was bland in taste. No salt or pepper was given and macaroni and collard's could have used more seasoning but overall when you are hungry and on lunch it will do.
Its good for those who don't know real soul food. The staff was cool but the food and selections were not. They did not offer any healthy options (everything fried or smothered in gravry) and the entire meal, even the potatoe salad was salty. The collard greens tasted spoiled and Mac and Cheese was $1 extra for canned cheese sauce with a layer of cheese baked on top. It was food but not good for the body or soul. I was reluctant to rate in the manner because I want to support black owned business but race and culture is no substitute for quality. Do better please!!!!
The food is great, but if the owner isn't present the service isn't good and is very slow. So I give the food a 5 but the service a 1.
