Pros: The place lives up to its name. The food has all the spices it needs. It's open after 1700 hrs, which is good.
best Caribbean food in the city, hands down. they are not the fastest nor the mostly friendly, but be patient. well worth it!!! i drive from the westside for it. lunch (express) plates before 3 are perfect. other portion sizes for the price are more than fair. Ox tails, Curry or Jerk Chicken.
Cons: They stretch the stew as much as they can. It is served in styrofoam cups. I kid you not...styrofoam cups. I got the large size & it was just soup without enough chicken. Two pieces, some rice & beans in the bottom where your plastic spoon can't reach. What I paid for was a spicy chicken rice-n-bean stew; what I got was basically an ingredient-starved soup that thought it was a large Coke. If you want food with substance then go somewhere else.
I will never be coming to this place again. First, I called ahead and ordered my food and I still had to wait for 20 minutes for the food to come out. That has happened before. Secondly, I get the fish I ordered and it is not prepared the way I had it the last time. Nor was it the size she told me it would be on the phone. My husband was so hungry he decided to pay for the fish anyway. Lastly, we go to eat in the car and the fish taste old. It taste like refried, old fish and it was hard. I take the fish back in and ask for the manager. He comes out the back and is extremely rude to me. I asked for another fish and refused. He threw the fish in the trash and said he was insulted that I said it taste old. He said he made it at 730 in the morning. So I was right! It was not fresh or "cooked to order" like they advertise on the menu. He told me that I should go get my fish from somewhere else from now on. The chick behind the counter is rude as hell as well. I will take my business elsewhere.
So there food is good for Jamaican food. I'm carribean but not Jamaican and if there were Haitian restaurant I'll eat there before I'll eat any where else. .. anyways the only down fall with this restaurant is there very stingy with there meats. Any other place they'll load you up, but the food is nasty. But don't worry guys I know some real Jamaicans and they will be opening up there restaurant soon. NEXT YEAR 2018. can't wait so I can stop eating from spice. With there stingy ass. YOU WILL GET MORE FOR YOUR BUCK AT THE NEW RESTAURANT.
Good spot for some Jamaican food, lunch portions during certain hours. Very good curry goat! Patties, cocoa bread etc.
