We enjoy that they are one of the few places that still gives complementary chips and salsa. The drink specials are great, not just because of the price, but also because of the Quality of their Margaritas.
Upon entry the waitress even remembered us and asked why we had been gone so long. The guy was on it with the chips and my drink was brought to me immediately I thought, "Hey a few weeks away and they improved". NOT- When we ordered my daughters two steak tacos the waitress told me it would be three dollars each. I didn't understand what she was saying. I responded something like "they are normally 2.19 but if it is 80 cents more for steak no biggie". My daughter gets steak every time we come I had never noticed before. I also asked for the cheese to be substituted for tomatoes because of a dairy allergy. She said ok.
When the bill came we were charged 5.50 a taco. 2.50 for a shell and lettuce then 3 dollars for the meat. AND 99 cents for freaking tomatoes!?!?!?!? I went over the bill and decided I wanted to address it with the waitress first. She stood firm on it. She said she told me. I told her you didn't say UPCHARGE and we have NEVER been charged this in all the years I have came. I then asked her about the tomatoes. Clearly cheese cost more than tomatoes. She shrugged at me. I then asked her if charging me six dollars more than I am used to is worth her tip. She smiled. So i went up to the cashier. Yes everyone is right she isn't friendly but it had never been an issue before. I explained to her my dilemma and how poor the service had been the last 4 visits. I also let her know I am there for the drinks and music your service and food are average. She said she saw nothing wrong with my bill and to pay. I told her money wasn't and issue and I will pay it but I will NEVER be back again and that the store as gone downhill. She pointed to everyone in the store and said she has no problem keeping business, pay your bill and get the hell out of here. That is just what I did after giving Angel a hug and told him we will have to arrange to catch him at another establishment from here on out. I can't wait to see who gets my money this Friday. It certainly will NEVER AGAIN BE OLE STAY AWAY--BETTER SERVICE AND FOOD ELSE WHERE AND THEY WONT FUDGE YOUR BILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have gone to this place for several years. If you look far back enough you will probably see a review where I was in love with OLE. I was... and I will NEVER go back there again. My last 4 visits have been very lousey in service. Either being seated and waiting 40 minutes for our chips, people seated after us addressed for drinks and chips before us, the wrong order etc.... What kept me going back is I love Mexican and Margaritas. 3 dollars each a margarita and you will not need more than 2 I promise.
The service has always been at least decent or better. The food has always been fresh, delicious and piping hot.
Plenty of TVs, Live entertainment and friendly staff AND customers.
I come here every Friday with my parents, for some delicious food and margaritas. The price is good, the food is great, the staff are wonderful. I tell everyone I meet to come here.
Came here for lunch and severely disappointed. Tried because of the reviews and now I'm thinking people haven't really had good Mexican food before if they rate this place so highly. Chips were burnt, salsa was... Meh. No spice to it. Our Fajitas Texanas which is their meat combo fajita was mostly veggies although a good amount of tomatoes. The steak was literally little bits of mostly gristle. The chicken was dry and small chunks. 4 pieces of shrimp which was okay but the kicker was that it didn't even taste like fajita. Our waitress seemed like she was having a rough day and it showed. I even said the meal wasn't good and the staff seemed uninterested in our opinion. All in all bland food. Definitely won't be coming back.
We have been going to Ole for a long time and last time we went we were charged for A kids meal that was supposed to be free and when we proceeded to advise the cashier, who is not friendly at all that it was kids free night and we shouldn't of been charge for the meal she argued with me for five minutes and ended up charging me. We still continue to come back after that issue however, last evening when we were there the gentleman that plays the live dance and promotes dancing on the dance floor was playing dance music and asking people to come dance, so saying is that there were four other children on the dance floor I decided to bring my three-year-old up there so he could dance and have some fun and in the middle of videotaping my child dancing the rude cashier comes over and stick her fingers in my face and asked me if I can read the sign on the door that apparently says no dancing, I thought that was some kind of joke because why would a place have dance music playing with a DJ telling you to come dance if dancing we're not allowed. She began to blame the annuity dancing rules on the insurance stating that it was not a bar it was a restaurant which I understand but there is a full bar and a DJ there singing songs and encouraging dancing. I don't even think the DJ knew that dancing was not allowed but also I was approached for my child that had been out there dancing for a minute and a half but yet there were four other children him we did not know that had danced out there the entire evening with their parents and she never once come front of them! When I told her that they were not my children she proceeded to tell me that I was leading a bad example! I am so offended, I will not be going there again. You shouldn't have a DJ playing somewhere that you don't want dancing! For them to blame it on the insurance agency is really not even true anyways because I have never ever heard of anything like that in all the years that I've been in the restaurant industry, sounds to me like it was the server is complaining of people getting in their way while they're just going to tables or maybe they should cancel the live music then. There was also no way for us to know that dancing was not allowed because the last time we been there on a Thursday the dance floor was full of people so we would've never known that we could not dance. We never sit near the patio door where the no dancing sign was posted as well and when I proceeded to tell her about that at check out she was very rude I understand that she is the mother of the owner but she is bad for business.
We have been going to Ole for years, every time we are in Jacksonville. I would say it's a well kept secret but it is usually packed.
My last visit last Friday took the cake. I had been out of work for a month and a half but wanted to celebrate being back. I had 10 dollars and figured what the hey. I decided i would munch on chips and let me daughter get two tacos while I drank and listened to Angel.
Can't wait to visit again Thanksgiving week!
