Highly enjoyed working with VBH. I've enjoyed my relationship as they are timely, prompt, and knowledgeable to ensure their patients are taken care of.
A better solution for treating a patient would be to allow 1 refill prescription with a reminder call that an appointment would be necessary for future refills. Instead, what this office elected to do is stop a patient from taking medication without proper preparation to stop taking it. There are harmful side effects to abruptly stopping these medications. The greed to be able to bill insurance superseded the commitment to patient care. If I suffer any health related issues from your negligence in making sure I was properly prepared to stop taking it, there WILL be a lawsuit.

Started out great seeing Susan Kessler ANRP, until recently. I’ve been waiting over a month for a phone call to get started on counseling with their intern. Called a week ago to say I had yet to receive the call and really needed to get into counseling. Still haven’t gotten that call. Then yesterday my 4:30pm appointment with Kessler didn’t start until 5:21pm. What should have been a 15 minute appointment had to be condensed to 5 minutes and I was still charged my copay. I had to be across town by 5:30 and lost a sale because I was late. Receptionist never called to inform me she was that far behind or I would have rescheduled, not wasted my time and money. Called the office today to resolve the issue and was told that because I was still seen I was going to be charged the copay regardless. $50 for 5 minutes after waiting an hour is inconceivable. To say I’m highly disappointed at their lack of professionalism would be an understatement. Never going back. Would not recommend to anyone.

I am within my first year of being a patient of this practice. I have never seen the doctor himself, just the P.A., Susan Kessler. She’s a pleasant enough lady, but not to the extent to overcome my disgust with the greed of their office. Let me tell you why I ended my relationship with this practice today; I am 2 1/2 weeks outside of their 60 day office visit policy so they denied refills of prescriptions until I take time out of my busy workdays, in this busy holiday week, walk into their office for a 10 minute visit and hand them my $60 copay so they can bill my insurance. I do not feel that this is good patient care - it’s greed, plain and simple. I verified with their office manager, Sarah, that this is their own office policy, not some law required policy. The medications I’m on are simply antidepressants. Until people stop enabling these doctors to construct these rules they will continue to make money at our detriment. Think twice before you choose this practice. It’s in a shabby, unsafe location, and difficult to get to. I only gave one star because my review wouldn’t post with a no star rating, which is really what I feel is deserved.
I have seen Dr. Vijapura for years. He has helped me (successfully) through many difficult times in my life. His staff always returns your calls and you don't have to navigate through prompts to get an associate on the phone. His psychotherapy team is excellent as well.
The purpose of this policy is to serve our patients to the highest standard of care. The practice of psychiatry and addiction medicine often involves close follow up. This is because of the need to adjust or switch medications, inquire into any medication side-effects, address a new crisis or relapse, and provide counseling. This is especially true with newer patients to a psychiatric practice.
