My husband and I have been going to Dr Townsend for 10years. We are very pleased with his staff and Dr Townsend. We have had bumps in our road of life and Dr Townsend has always been then for us. He always makes me feel comfortable talking with him about what troubles me. He always explains my prescriptions throughly so I know what it is for & etc. I highly recommend him. He does own the spa next door but he has never gone on and on about it. Actually to lose weight the spa wouldne much more healthier then being put on a diet pill. The only negative is he is a Georgia Bulldog fan
Dr. Townsend is awesomeeee! All my kids, my husband, and myself see him. There is a short waiting time, very organized, and the staff has all their ducks in a row. If you think about it.. everyone usually gets sick at the same time. Very handy to have a family go to one location instead running around town getting 3 separate prescriptions. He does care about his patient's well-being.. especially children. He is not deliberately ambiguous or unclear and gives straight expeditious answers. So, if you have "the flu" you do not have to wait for a hour long sugar coated response, like other doctors. He gives options and wants to see that you get better! The first review person is crazy for complaining about a doctor who offers spa treatment, local fitness, and healthy weight loss programs. Suggestions of local AFFORTABLE businesses are very helpful and it is nice to NOT drive alllll the way to Ponte Vedra for good treatments and well trained personnel! Dr. Townsend is a doctor who cares so much about people and figured out a way to help our community by offering spa care for teens, men, and women, 100 ft from the office door.
Dr. Townsend is less thorough and helpful since opening SpaMe. Rather than provide dietary and fitness advice, scar treatments, etc. he tries to sell SpaMe services. He seems less concerned about his patients' needs and time. My last appointment was only one of several similar experiences...He was 45 minutes late (did not apologize), went over a few issues with me, and when I tried to discuss weight loss, he immediately began a sales pitch for SpaMe--about the dietician he hired and the boot camps they will offer, how successful the program will be, and so on. He spoke for about 20 minutes about his spa and never stopped to listen to my needs. He left before we could discuss any other medical issues. Although Dr. Townsend has a friendly demeanor, he often seems condescending and even cocky. I have noticed an increase in this attitude over the last year or so. I do want to mention that the office staff has greatly improved over the last year, and his assistant, Kelly, is wonderful. Unfortunately, Dr. Townsend no longer meets my expectations. At this point, I am considering transferring to Dr. Townsend's former partner, Dr. Ross Osborn.
