Excellent company! They fixed the mess the original roofer made with one of the ridge lines, which was improperly installed. They showed up on time and were honest, friendly, and informative. I never felt like my questions were a bother. We later had a leak with Hurricane Irma, and they came immediately and tarred loose shingles all over the roof (not just on the place they had fixed previously) and did not charge anything (even though this was beyond the scope of the original job). The leak was probably from the rain blowing in the vent, but they said if I had any problems going forward, I should call and they'd be back to check again. I am incredibly impressed with these people and recommend them without reservation. Special recognition to Nick (project manager) and Devin (estimator) for going above and beyond!
After paying for almost every upgrade they offered, the roof leaked, they damaged by trusses, and threw away my chimney cap and replaced it with one that did not work and was unsafe. A chimney safety inspector documented it and when I showed Universal Roofing they were unwilling to fix it.
Would never use this company for any work. They are not upfront and honest. We called for an estimate to have rotten wood replaced under our vinyl siding. We explained in detail over the phone what we needed. They sent someone out the next day. The guy showed up and said "uh, so you want to look at getting new siding?". I explained to him that we had a few different places that needed the siding taken off and replace the rotten wood underneath. He responded he wasn't sure they did that. Yet, he's a salesman for the company and doesn't know what his company does? He called his manager and he also said they don't do that and we need to call a handyman. We called the company to complain about our experience and they said they can replace rotting wood, but "it's not the type of job they LIKE to do". Pretty much saying they'd only do it if we were replacing all the siding on our house. And then they decided to tell us they were booked solid for 3 months. Yeah right. They could have told us over the phone that they couldn't do it, rather than us wasting time off of work to not be given a straight answer.
I am so grateful to have found Universal Roof & Contracting! I have used them several times to add a roof vent, repair a soffit which was very difficult to access, and repair my roof after high winds. You can be sure I will call them when I need a new roof or any other roofing services. The company that installed my roof ten years ago went out off business within one year. I know Universal will be there when I need them. The employees in the Jacksonville Office are extremely responsive, courteous, prompt, knowledgeable, and professional. What more could I ask for? ;O)
Called Universal Roofing to come out and give us an estimate to repair a leak over our garage. Devon Y. came out and inspected the roof and advised of the problem. He told us that he could temporarily repair it for us, which he did, and then gave us an estimate of what it would cost to completely repair the roof. We were so grateful and thankful to him for doing this for us. Devon was a professional, nice, young man and is an asset to this company. You can rest assured we will use this company in the future and recommend them to our friends.
We have gotten a quote from them in the past for a roof leak repair and they had the highest price estimate, we will never call them again.
