I love it! My primary's the best and having stayed in the hospital several times, the nurses, aides..etc were fantastic! Everyone's bedside manner was a blessing to me. My first stay was during the Christmas Holiday and I received a gift bag, which I quite surprised and grateful. What I liked most was the evening prayer...and my last time I was a little uneasy about the procedure I was having and a nurse asked if she could pray for me. I don't think it can get any better than that.
No one wants to go to the Hospital. If you must, St. Vincent's Southside is THE Hospital to go to. I have been in hospitals in, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, and Miami. NONE of them compare to the quality of care that I received at St. Vincent's Southside in Jacksonville FL! The Doctors are wonderful, Nurses, the BEST, ALL of the Techs and Support Staff, EVERYONE gets an A+ rating from me.
Great hospital with great nurses and aides. I gave them a heck of a time and I am sorry about that. It's been almost a year now, I still recall how great they were.
Three times in the ER at this hospital and 3 times no one could diagnose me correctly. The third time the ER doctor smarted off to my wife and said "he could die if he leaves now" when we questioned a very invasive test I did not need. Later that Saturday night he admitted me. While the floor team, nurses, and technicians were exemplary in their jobs, the Hospitalist overseeing my care was very negligent. She neither listened to me nor to my cardiologist; refused to contact my PCP; and no doctor ever touched me other than with a stethoscope to try and determine the cause of my abdominal pain. After 2 ½ days she discharged me against my cardiologist's recommendation - after four VERY expensive and unnecessary tests - with no relief for the pain I had been in the entire stay. No one reviewed my meds prior to discharge. Now I know why my doctors will not treat me at this hospital and why they refer to it as a "rinky-dink" facility.
I dislike hospitals and get very anxious. The day staff lacked on compassion and understanding. The night staff i.e. Chelsea M. Was so amazing! Her bed side manner was awesome and her understanding and resolve blew me away.... It's kinda sad to say that I would rather spend the night in the hospital than spend the day. The second day changed that tho. Had David L. as the day nurse and he was just as awesome as Chelsea M. Great guy, great nurse, these two nurses are cut from a different cloth. I hope st. Vincent's southside realizes how great David L. and Chelsea M. are. They are top notch! Thanks again Chelsea M. And David L. For all your help.
