I enjoy having wooded areas, lake areas, and beach areas. Camping sites are available. There are plenty of pavilions and tables available in those different settings. On the lake there is a place where you can rent canoes or kayaks by the hour. Just don't fall in, there are plenty of big gators around. The reason for 4 stars is because there is a five dollar fee to get in and then still need to pay once inside for any of the additional activities. Even if you are just going to walk you still need to pay.
Not a place to quietly enjoy the great outdoors.
And they don't even allow alcohol.
The bathrooms haven't been clean any of the times I've been in there. I'd recommend camping at Little Talbot Island SP if there is availability.
This is our experience and yours might be better, but judging by how people seem to be okay with their kids doing this, you're in for something similar.
Great for camping and miles of trails to explore! If you plan on visiting for the day, the trails are completely shaded and good for hiking, running, and mountain biking. Many of the trails alternate direction each day, so pay attention to which direction you need to go. The park also has a beautiful beach on the ocean, so you can catch some sun and waves after a morning on the trails. If you plan on staying overnight, the campsites require advance reservations, and are very popular, so book well ahead of time, especially for long weekends. Campsites have fire rings, picnic tables, electrical outlets and water spigots, as well as sewer hookups for RVs. The camp store sells firewood, so you don't have to worry about finding any to bring with you. The store has food, drinks, and bicycle rentals. (There are kayak rentals on the lake, but you can't take the kayaks away from the lake to the ocean or anywhere else.) The bathrooms/shower houses get dirty fast, especially on busy weekends, so just be prepared, and pack flip flops to wear in the shower.
But it's Friday and these kids have had nothing but leftover Halloween candy and Red Bull for dinner. They're running through campsites unsupervised and barefoot, tripping on our tent guy lines, squealing, throwing rocks and yelling at everything.
Nice place for family and friends picnic. There is a beach, a lake and trails inside. There are playgrounds and kids play places there. You can reserve pavilions and have cookouts there. Very nice and safe place. There is a $5 entry fee per car and around $50 fee per pavilion.
Took out of town visitors today and it was a perfect day. There was a crocodile on a log in the freshwater lake. I told my 11year old nephew it was a statue we put there to impress visitors and because it was so still he believed me. He enjoyed all the play equipment, especially the zip line and the spinning mushroom. Beautiful park. And that's before you walk out to the pristine beach.
We didn't think anything of the family friendly amenities upon arrival Thursday night. There's beach access, a playground and a splash park.
