I brought my daught here that was homicidal and suicidal screaming for help and this so called hospital told her to go get PHP out patient "What" what is that anyway??? I had to take my daughter back out to the car crying having a breakdown and p.s.d.d. with no help at all. I would not recommend this hospital....
My Autistic,Developmentally Disabled, adult daughter is a patient right now at this facility. I am her legal guardian due to her low cognitive function. These people have only called during her intake, and i have yet to speak to her Doctor, social worker or therapist to give them her history and medication info which is crucial to her receiving proper care. This is TERRIFYING!!! Not to mention that just calling them is a test of patience due to the extremely rude operator. I WILL BE REPORTING THIS FACILITY TO EVERY STATE, FEDERAL AND PRIVATE ORGANIZATION THAT I CAN FIND!!! Anyone who has received poor care should do the same. This state is in a mental health care crisis and it will not improve as long as these issues are not addressed!
I have just completed the 28 day rehab program at Wekiva. I have to say I was very pleased with my experience. The groups were really great and educational. The therapists we really good. I am very thankful for the hospitality. The staff with a few exceptions were really great. The food was decent. Everybody was there to help except a few people which is why I don't give this a five star. But overall I had a great experience and I am thankful for life to Wekiva.
If I could give them a zero if I could. The do not care about quality patient care. They overmedicate the patients. There was a patient in the unit with me who was harassing me to the point of violence. When I reacted, I was the one who was considered crazy. My "doctor" said I shouldn't be in a hospital for my problems. He said I should be in jail. They're not about helping. They just want your insurance money. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!
My brother was admitted to this facility two days after he was released from 7 days in Orange Park Medical center behavioral unit. Please read my review on their website(Orange Park Medical) the place is an absolute disaster and has no right treating the mentally ill. Wekiva Spring is not a place I would recommend to anyone who needs help for a family member or friend with mental illness. They are more worried about making money and show no regard for their patients. The one exception to the staff is Darlene the lady at the front check in who was very kind and compassionate. We let them know when he was admitted that my brother was also a lung cancer patient who had pneumonia which was left untreated at Wekiva and when he was released 6 days after admission to Wechiva he was admitted 2days later to another hospital where he now remains with pneumonia. I also had to have a lengthy discussion with staff when they released my brother without his very expensive sun glasses, ear buds, and watch which they allowed him to take in. I had to become angry before someone went and took another look and they somehow found a clear plastic bag with all of these items. We also spoke with Melinda a counselor when my brother was admitted who really had us fooled that they were a caring facility that would be able to help us. We were assured there normal policy was to give 24hour notice before they release the patient-it turned out for us to be Monday morning call about 11 am after we had spoken to several nurses over the weekend that said there were no upcoming releases. This place does not help families who are living with the nightmare of mental illness with their loved one. My brother left there in a manic state and his paperwork showed bipolar 1 with severe mania. They released him with 2 weeks of medicine and made an attempt to get him a follow up appointment but never followed through so now my brother is without a psychiatric diagnosis doctor. Avoid this place at all costs and Godbless anyone dealing with this nightmare of mental illness because it seems to be a throw away part of society.
