On service day we had our 5th and 6th associate of the process in charge of the service. They only had thin details of what was happening since the communication there was so terrible. They managed to help us correct some last minute issues which made me appreciate their help. Until one of sisters-in-law was close enough to hear the associate complain to the receptionist that we should have been there 2 hours early to figure all of this out. So apparently from there end the customer is always wrong. I guess dropping $13,000 on a funeral, arriving 1 1/2 hours early and expecting things to be finished as promised was too much to ask?
This may have been of the most tragically disappointing experiences of my life. Every member of the staff that we dealt with lacks consideration and respect when dealing with people who are going through one of the most difficult experiences of their lives. My father-in-law, who passed, paid for most of his arrangements in 1978 so it should not have been difficult.
We were left talking to our 4th person, Mary-Beth, in 2 weeks at this point who was "assisting" who told us that we would be able to connect the computer I asked about to the TV system if I brought the cable. When I arrived the morning of the service this wasn't true either.
Then Nina our funeral director stopped replying to email with details that we had been coordinating during the week. on a Thursday night after things were not finalized for a Saturday funeral I called annoyed. They told me that she was out of the office for the rest of the week since Wednesday. So our funeral director just left without a word and nobody with a grasp on the details.
The director and staff were as compassionate and helpful as they could possibly be. They assisted me in a difficult time and helped with paper work. They were compassionate and supportive but never intrusive.
It started with our sales person Susan who talked my mother-in-law into things she didn't need and outright lied to her about how certain pricing was done because I was able to correct it in minutes.
The lack of compassion, ethics, and attention to detail here was appalling. I feel sorry for anyone else who will have to say goodbye to a loved one at Hardage-Giddens.
Tammy, who was in charge of the cemetery portion (marker, plot, etc...) did not even have the foresight to go out and locate plot and marker that were already out there as we sat in a 1 hour meeting with the funeral director. So she led me and my 76 year old mother in law all over the cemetery in search of the spot. THEN asked if she had a plot and had considered purchasing space here! Really?
