I believe that this church leadership desired to make an effort to connect with all of its members, but just ultimately couldn't. The greater concern seemed to be a desire to self-promote...for this church to make itself famous without a real desire to want to know every day people. Theology was shaky at times, but that was a secondary concern regarding the obvious catering to people more well off than others in the church. So, it didn't feel like a church. Just a business.
Unfortunately Avondale was looking for a pastor in the wrong time and the wrong place. When Avondale voted him in we immediately lost members for not accepting the associate pastor at the time. The church was very divided at this period of time. The church also had over 2 million dollars in the black so we were doing well. Mr. G was the one responsible for the church having that much money as he had invested wisely. I heard the word thief come from his mouth. That statement was made after he joined LSBC with all of us. Mr S also commented that the man is one of the worst liars he had ever seen. Referring to what he promised the church and once he was in he did the very opposite. P and C left right away that was to follow the associate pastor that got voted down. Mom and my sister had already left and during one service RS asked if any one knew what Avondale meant. He was talking to the children on the first couple of pews. He told them that "Avon" meant water a stream or creek and pointed to the picture over the baptismal pointing to the water. Then he explained the word "Dale" stating it was an open area or pasture like area. Some of the kids laughed and RS said that would be silly to have a bunch of Baptist frolicking all over the place. I got up and walked out never to return. Earlier before church started one of the minions that was following RS came up to me and said how nice of me visiting the church today. I was not polite and told her I have been a member longer than she would ever be.

Invited to attend Night of Worship and I brought a friend. We loved it. The music was wonderful!! I loved seeing people praise and worship God because that's what we were designed to do. Its not about us, its about Him! Looking forward to the next Night of Worship.

My daughter and I visited last Sunday.Loved the warm welcome from the volunteer outside,an older woman Pam?Said her mom's name was Mrtyle.I could feel the spirit and sincerity in this church.I've been praying for a church like this.God bless this church.
This "church" is a scam. I grew up at Avondale Baptist Church, which is what this used to be. It was a glorious historic family oriented place. Years after I moved away Roger Stark was hired and the trouble began. The old families had no power to change the destructive tide Stark brought with him. And now this "minister" has the audacity to advertise that his church dates back to 1922. THIS IS A LIE!!!! The original frame structure burned in the early 1950s and was rebuilt several years later. Roger confiscated the church sometime after 1990 and changed the worship, orientation, and name. Now it is a cult. So this "christian" minister lies about it's history and makes the false claim Grace Church began in 1922. WHAT ELSE IS HE LYING ABOUT??? In the name of God Roger Stark, shame on YOU.
But what does it matter. The fine Christians left the church and those wanting big bucks stayed. GOD KNOWS THE TRUTH RS! And you can get your minions to keep posting "positive lies" to up your stars but GOD KNOWS THE TRUTH RS!
